Reflections on Museums, Collections and Exhibits as Catalysts for Kenyanhood

Karega-Munene is a Professor of History at United States International University, Nairobi, Kenya.  He has previously worked at University of Nairobi and National Museums of Kenya. He trained as an archaeologist at University of Nairobi and University of Cambridge.  His research interests in archaeology include taphonomy, ethnoarchaeology, archaeozoology, origins and development of food production, and emergence of complex societies During the last few years he has been researching dress and identity, cultural and human rights in relation to museums, representations of nationhood in Kenyan museums, and the construction and deconstruction of Kenyan ethnic identities.
